MySQL - Einstellungen falsch?

Hallo Leute!

Ich versuche eine medizinische Datenbank, welche Apache MySQL und php3
nutzt, (Freemed) zu installieren.
Alle nötigen Programme wurden von der SuSE 6.1 CD installiert bzw runtergeladen,
(php3).
Apache und Mysql laufen.
Danach versuchte ich die Anweisungen von Jeff B (freemed project)
auszuführen:

Change $host to be the actual internet name of your machine or localhost if you don't want to try using it from another location. Set the $db_user and $db_password variables to the values of some user account on the MySQL server -- if you don't have any, please make one using mysqladmin. Set $database to be whatever you want, although package will work fine. Set the $base_url to the offset (such as /package or /freemed) that you specified in the Alias statement in Apache's srm.conf file. From there on it, you have to log in as "root" in freemed with the password for the MySQL server as the password. From there, go into the Administration menu and select Reinitialize Database. When it shows you a checkbox for "first time install", please click that, and freemed will build its database tables, and import whatever little stock data we may have now. You can then go to the user menu and add some users to play around with, and you are off and running. Please be advised that only "!

Das hat nicht ganz funktioniert, denn ich konnte in der Dokumentation die
nötigen Commands nicht finden, bzw welche Dateien in welchem Verzeichnis zu
ändern sind.

Möglicherweise wurd httpd.conf nicht richtig konfiguriert und das ganze hängt
schon dort, oder die MYSQL Einstellungen passen nicht.
Das dürfte zumidest auch der Fall sein denn auf die Eingabe von:
httpd
# kommt folgende Ausgabe:
sqlinit: DBROOT must be set.

Könnte mir irgend wer von Euch die einzelnen Schritte erläutern.

Ich habe schon einige Readme's und HOWTO's über MySQL gelesen ebenso
einen Artikel im LINUX-MAGAZIN (Subito [9/99]) und trotz der Tips dort bin ich
noch immer nicht weiter gekommen.

Ich habe im übrigen auch Probleme Webmin welches ebenso MySQL benötigt
zum Laufen zu bringen.
