Hi all,

I have  the a problem with the the mutated vowels, like german öäü or
french é.

I developped an internet auction on german SuSE Linux 6.1. The mutated
vowels were interpreted as they are.
If somebody filled out a HTML Form as "Name=Ali Öcügür", then the insert was
"Ali Öcügür" then.
Now my provider has Linux RedHat. On this, the us-american verison of mysql
is running. This Version cannot interprete mutated vowels. Ö is interpreted
and inserted
as |.

Is it possible to determine the german charset when I  create a table
(during creation process). Or even better, can I change the charset
afterwards?

Do you know about a similar case and how it was governed???
