[php] "php" in Produktnamen

hi,

ich weiss nicht, ob dies hier schon zur Sprache gebracht worden ist, da ich nicht
immer ganz aufmerksam mitlese - falls schon, dann ist die Erlaubnis gegeben, mich
zu hauen :)

Vor 10 Tagen wurde im neusten CVS-Tree eine Änderung an der PHP-Lizenz durchgegeben,
die fortan verbietet das Kürzel "PHP" in Programmnamen zu verwenden. Bestehende 
Scripte wie z.B. phpMyAdmin müssen deswegen nicht unbenannt werden, aber zukünftige
Programme sollten darauf achten die neuen Bestimmungen einzuhalten. Der Artikel
liest sich folgendermassen:

  4. Products derived from this software may not be called "PHP", nor
     may "PHP" appear in their name, without prior written permission
     from group_(at)_php.net.  You may indicate that your software works in
     conjunction with PHP by saying "Foo for PHP" instead of calling
     it "PHP Foo" or "phpfoo"

Zeev Zuraski argumentiert folgendermassen:

  I agree with Rasmus, that there's no good reason to call every app written 
  in PHP 'phpSomething'.  PHP is a platform like all other platforms, and 
  much like you don't have C++Word or VBFoo, the same case applies to PHP.
  Again, we have no plans to run after all of the PHP apps.  But the general 
  idea is that PHP should not be a part of a product name, especially a 
  commercial one, without prior consent from the PHP group.

  If you do feel that you have to somehow denote that it's for PHP, Foo for 
  PHP or pFoo are fine alternatives.

Und noch ein Kommentar von Rasmus Lerdorf:

  This has been explained many times.  Obviously the PHP license does not
  apply to anything that does not include any of the PHP under that
  particular license.  Scripts written in PHP are not subject to the
  license.

  That's the strict legal sense, in the good sense category it is still a
  bad idea to call stuff PHP Foo.  You don't see that with other things.
  Python Mailman, C++ Mozilla, C Apache, Perl Majordomo, etc.  The name of
  the project/product should stand on its own merits.

Dazu gab's noch eine Diskussion in PHP-Dev, die ich aber irgendwie verpasst
habe. Wer grad Links zur Hand hat, kann dies ja noch in diesen Thread (nicht
"Threat" -- ist ja schliesslich keine Bedrohung, sondern ein Gesprächsfaden)
posten.
