update mysql

Was steht denn in Deinem ./config.log ?

> Ich glaube bald, es liegt an der 3.23.42 Version.

Unter welchem user läuft/soll laufen mysqld?
Was steht in  /var/mysql/data ?
Sind da die files von install_db?
Wem gehören die?
Wer hat Rechte in dem Verzeichnis?
mysqld braucht Schreibrechte..:-)
Wie Ralf schon sagte: vermutlich ein Rechte Problem.
Dein mysqld kann linux.pid nicht anlegen oder?
Deshalb wahrscheinlich auch die Folgefehler.
