FTP wird z. B. voll unterstützt (ab PHP 5.0/5.1)

HTTP eben bloß lesend, und wenn dort von 'File' gesprochen wird, so ist
dort trotzdem nur die vom Server gelieferte Ausgabe gemeint.

scandir() versucht aber das Verzeichnis zu öffnen um zu lesen,
'http://...' liefert aber kein Verzeichnis(handle) sondern die Ausgabe
des entfernten Servers.

ich meine das was du z. B. mittel file_get_contents('http://path/');
bekommst
