[php] make-Error bei php und apache

Moin,
für einen Freund folgendes Problem wenn er versucht
apache mit php zusammen zu übersetzen (ohne php
gibt es wohl keinen Ärger):

System:
 Caldera 2.2 Distribution
 glibc-devel Paket (2.2-3) installiert
 glibc-localedata Paket (2.2-3) installiert
 ncurses-devel (4.2-2)
 ncurses-devel-static (4.2-2)
 egcs (2.91.66-5)
 egcs-c++
 egcs-objc

 Versuch den apache zu kompilieren:
 /config geht durch
 make bricht mit Fehler ab:

 Fehlermeldung:
 modules/standard/libstandard.a(mod_auth.o): In function
 `authenticate_basic_user':
 mod_auth.o(.text+0x401): undefined reference to `crypt'
 make[2]: *** [target_static] Error 1
 make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/apache_1.3.4/src'
 make[1]: *** [build-std] Error 2
 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/apache_1.3.4'
 make: *** [build] Error 2


 angelehnt an den Hinweis aus der FAQ
 (/usr/src/apache_1.3.4/htdocs/manual/misc/FAQ.html):

   I'm using RedHat Linux 5.0, or some other glibc-based Linux
   system, and I get errors with the crypt function when I attempt
   to build Apache 1.2.

   glibc puts the crypt function into a separate library. Edit
   your src/Configuration file and set this:

   EXTRA_LIBS=-lcrypt

   Then re-run src/Configure and re-execute the make.

 die Datei src/Configure.apaci geändert, ohne Erfolg
