memory_limit ignored

how does your configure line look like?
have you used '--enable-memory-limit' ?
it is _not_ enabled by default!

Also muß php neu kompiliert werden?! Schade, das kann ich nicht.

Sorry, but the function set_ini is not in the online manual.
